Title: Seeing The World Through Rose Colored Glasses

Key Scriptures:  Song of Solomon 2:1

I am the Rose of Sharon, and the Lily of the valleys.

In the dictionary, one of Mr. Webster’s definitions of the world ‘color’ is “to give a distinctive quality or character to” and “to influence.”  We can live in a view that has been influenced by the Rose of Sharon.

I am glad we don’t have to see the world like we used to.  We don’t have to look up at the stars at night and wonder why we are here.  You must either believe in the “Big Bang” or believe in a big God.  Once you have been touched by Him, you start seeing the world with Rose-colored glasses.

Look up the definition of the word ‘wonder.”  One definition is “something arousing awe, admiration and astonishment.”  The other definition of the same word is “a feeling of puzzlement and doubt.”  Which definition of the word ‘wonder’ will you experience?  Will you live your life with puzzlement and doubt or with awe and admiration?

In a world full of broken dreams, broken hearts and broken lives, where can you turn?  Is life a series of heartaches, rejection and failure and then we die?  Or is there something else?

Perhaps you are like King Solomon.  What do you do when you get everything you’ve ever wanted – but it isn’t enough?  (Read Ecclesiastes chapter 2)  All good things come from God.  If you are blessed today, don’t thank your lucky stars; thank the Bright and Morning Star.  (Rev.  22:16)

When you see the world through Rose-colored glasses, you see God differently.  It is a fact that the extended right arms of the Statue of Liberty are 42 feet long.  Sometimes we don’t see how great and big God is because we see Him from a distance.  It’s time to get close to God and see His greatness and glory!

When you see the world through Rose-colored glasses, you see yourself differently.  You understand that when you are living right and living for God, you are not an abnormal person living in a normal world, you are a normal person living in an abnormal world.  You were made to serve the Lord, you were made to live right, and you were made to leap for joy.  I just want to be and stay normal!

When you see the world through Rose-colored glasses, you see sin differently.

I sinned to obtain happiness, but I became sorrowful.

I sinned to have joy, but I became miserable.

I sinned to be sociable, but I became argumentative.

I sinned to be sophisticated, but I became obnoxious.

I sinned to make friends but I only made enemies.

I sinned to appear strong, but I became weak.

I sinned to fee good, but I acquired health problems

I sinned to relax, but I became restless.

I sinned to appear brave, but I became afraid.

I sinned to have confidence, but I became doubtful.

I sinned to feel rich, but I felt worthless.

I sinned to be a part of the crowd, but I felt so alone.

I sinned to forget, but I was haunted daily.

I sinned for freedom, but I became enslaved.

I sinned to ease life’s problems, but I saw them multiply.

I sinned to find life, but it brought on death.

I sinned to feel heavenly, but ended up in hell.

You cannot ever get a brand new start, but you can have a brand new ending!  Reach out and experience God.  You will start seeing the world through Rose-colored glasses!

Jack (in the box) gets awful lonely in there.  It is dark, he feels pressure and he feels like there is no way out.  He looks so sad and hopeless in the darkness.  One day, outside of his dark world, he hears some music playing…

Suddenly, he finds himself in a brand new world, a world of light, a world of freedom, and a way out of the darkness.  Jack is smiling, his hands are lifted upwards, and he rocks back and forth.  Come on Jack, haven’t you been lost in the darkness long enough?  Haven’t you felt hopeless long enough?

The Rose of Sharon, the Lily of the valleys is playing your song.  He is calling your name.  Will you respond to Him today?  He wants to color your world.
